Transfer of players now possible
Sunday, 02 September 2007

In com_leagueman you can now move players from one team to another easily. Up to know you had to assign a player after searching in the global player list, even if the player stays in the same team, but moves to another project.
Now you assign a list of players in the "playermap" to a new project/team combination by choosing a selectbox value.
This should save time when starting new projects. Available via SVN.

Playing around with JoomSEF
Monday, 27 August 2007

Yesterday I had a look at the Artio JoomSEF component for Joomla version 2.1.0
I wonder, which is the most accepted SEF component right now. How the SEF Urls of com_leagueman have to look like? for a demo see here
If you have any suggestions, please discuss here...

Reintroducing leagues
Monday, 27 August 2007

This is a replacement for joomla categories we used to categorize projects, so we can prevent conflicts with older versions of Joomla.
Leagues are not only a filter for your growing project list, but also a filter for a leaguetable over different seasons of the same league (in german we say: ewige Tabelle)
This is already working with the old com_lgmngr component (see here), but has to be adapted for com_leagueman yet.

Is it true?
Saturday, 25 August 2007

Do you install any component or module you just download anywhere from a server on your live site? Is it true? Without testing? Without any knowledge of the component?

Do you need a shopping cart on your site? Would you download a component called com_virtuemart from my site? Would you install it on a live site immediately? What, if my script sends an email to me with all your customers data? Or even worse, what, if my script deletes your database?

com_leagueman is pretty stable for me. But maybe your setup is a bit different and this component mess up your site with errors or blank screens after installing and/or even uninstalling... do not blame me! Test it before going on a live site! Test it! Test it! Test it!

What about a common team directory?
Friday, 24 August 2007

Assume you want to share leagues or you want to import leagues from others.
This is currently not possible, because all have different "general data". The team id is different, maybe the team is called "Bayern München" instead of "FC Bayern München", how to identify this team for a correct import of a whole league?
The idea is a common project and team directory, where you can update your database automatically, if you want. Please discuss the requirements of such a project here.

Why com_leagueman installs so many mambots?
Friday, 24 August 2007

This question is actually easy to answer: we do not want to write duplicate code.
We choose Joomla's native plugin system to make the component as flexible as possible in usage. Leagueman functions are able to execute mambots, so why not put any view into mambots? As shown in my privious post, you can place Leagueman mambots anywhere in your content, if you apply mambots to modules, you can even place them in modules.
Third Party developer do not need to change the core code. They just write a new mambot and call it from a template.
Be aware, if you uninstall com_leagueman, those mambots will currently not uninstalled.

Frontend matrix will be removed
Thursday, 23 August 2007

Please discuss here the necessity of the frontend matrix plugin.
This plugin is just another view on the result table showing all results in a matrix. The combination of the round- & teaminfo functions should make a quick access to every match of the project very easy.
Furthermore it blows up your template the more teams your project has.

use plugins in your content items
Thursday, 23 August 2007

com_leagueman also installs a couple of plugins (mambots) by installing the component.
The same way, com_leagueman uses these plugins, you can use in your content items. Here I will show you .-)
