tik.no uses com_leagueman
Thursday, 23 August 2007

tik.no Did you have a look in the Link directory of this site? Already visited tik.no?
tik.no is the homepage of the Trondheim Icehockey Klub in Norway. They made a good choice using Joomla and com_leagueman. This site is fantastic, so I had to tell you about it :-).
If YOU have a com_leagueman site, let me know.

com_registration hacks
Thursday, 23 August 2007

In this Blog entry I want to discuss the standard user registration of Joomla.
com_registration is a core component, that's why you cannot uninstall it via GUI. You can configure some behaviour in Joomla's global configuration, I think this is the wrong place. But that's not the point. The only two actions com_registration can do after creating a new user is to send mails to the user himself and to all admins, that want to keep informed.
What, if you want to execute more actions?

Demo updated
Wednesday, 22 August 2007

It's working!
I just updated the little Demo on this site with the last version you can get here in my download section. The PHP-Version here is 5.2.1, we use a MySQL 5.0.41 database.
There are some issues with other components like com_docman or com_mtree, but as long as you are not using leagueman modules on docman pages, all will be fine.

New Download of com_leagueman
Tuesday, 21 August 2007

There were a few files corrupt in the first com_leagueman-package, so after installing the component you got a blank screen or fatal errors, if your error reporting was set.
This issue has been fixed in SVN now. A new package is compiled and available for download.

Where can I get jBulletin?
Tuesday, 21 August 2007

As you might know, com_jbulletin is a little forum component for com_leagueman based on the former popular com_simpleboard or com_joomlaboard
com_leagueman provides a couple of connectors to automatically create threads. So every match can be discussed, or you can use a players guest or reviews book as a jBulletin thread.
The problem is, the component is not packaged yet. Its about an hour of work making the component installable, maybe two :-)
com_leagueman & com_jbulletin: its great teamwork.
So, if you can wait, use this time getting familiar with com_leagueman. You will get com_jbulletin here in my download section. Thanks for your understanding.

The component is back...
Tuesday, 21 August 2007

The decision to provide a full leagueman package only, somewhat I called a new Joomla fork, was not such a good one. After changing the license to GNU/GPL and updating the component license on Joomla's extension directory, the maintainers of extensions.joomla.org removed the component from the list.
I saw the power of the Joomla community. There was no activity on this page anymore. No new registration, no download hit - silence! A quite boring and frustrating state.
Now, the component is back, registered both on extensions.joomla.org and joomlacode.org and we are happy about that.

com_leagueman @ joomlacode.org
Monday, 20 August 2007

A few minutes ago I registered a project com_leagueman at joomlacode.org.
There is SVN access, so you can checkout current development state, use the tracker to enter feature request, bugs etc.
Finally, there is a component for 1.0.x again!

Create jBulletin categories automatically
Wednesday, 15 August 2007

com_jbulletin is the integrated forum component for Leagueman based on the former Joomla component com_joomlaboard.
The idea was to create categories for com_jbulletin for each project as a toplevel category plus subcategories for one general forum, one round forum and forums for each team of the project.
The plan is also creating topics for each match which will be posted in the forum of the home team and a round topic in the round forum with links to every match topic. You understand? :-)
I think this is a great feature for your project admin as his post counter will be increased dramatically on Click :-)

Team related items
Monday, 13 August 2007

The same way you can connect a content item with a player profile, you can now assign an article to the teaminfo page.
Just enter the teammapID into the keywords field of a content item in the following format: tm:6!
So we slowly get closer to the look & feel of this page :-).
